Drs. Lederman will facilitate this workshop that will focus on current research on learning and its applications to classroom practice. The roots of constructivist theory and its relationship to current learning theory will first be explored. The implications of this theory and research for what constitutes learning will be explored within the context of research-based teaching practices. Participants will have plenty of opportunities to share their ideas in small groups and to revise instructional activities to be more consistent with research on learning and national science education standards. Finally, the implications for classroom assessment (formative and summative) will be discussed and illustrated with concrete applications.
